| Children & Youth at Church of the Holy Spirit |
| Youth Formation |
| CHS offers two tracks for our growing youth
education program. For pre-K through grade four, we offer Godly
Play, a Montessori-based method of teaching sacred stories and parables
through play and wondering. Our Middle School program for 5th-8th graders focuses on multiweek topics led by parishioners and invited guests, relating liturgical readings, church traditions and the world around us. Click here to access the CHS 2009-2010 teaching/classroom topic schedule and information on other planned Youth activities at CHS. Volunteers are needed to staff our youth education programs, so, if you are interested in participating with this important ministry, please check the calendar for open teaching and teaching assistant positions. E-mail Kara Brewton if you can help in either classroom or lead a youth event. If you have questions about the Middle School Classroom, e-mail Tammy Retalic. |
| Childrens' Sermons & Family Liturgies |
| Children are always welcome and often invited to
participate actively in CHS worship services. On weeks when Sunday
School does not meet, our Celebrant delivers special sermons in which
children at invited to the altar for a discussion relating to the day's
lessons. We encourage children especially to attend Baptism services in which we renew our Baptismal vows and joyously welcome new members to our community of Christ. Throughout the calendar year, CHS also features child-friendly Family Liturgies, in lieu of Sunday School, where we emphasize the power and joy that can be found in community worship. |
| Acolytes |
| Children ages 8 - 16 are encouraged to serve as Acolytes in CHS worship service. E-mail our Rector the Rev. Dr. Frederick P. Moser directly to enroll your children in this wonderful youth liturgical ministry. |
| Safe Church |
| Church of the Holy Spirit is dedicated to providing a Safe Church environment for all parishioners, especially for our young ones. We require Sunday School teachers and youth ministers to be CORI checked and also to complete Safe Church training courses with the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. |

| 2008 - 2009 New! Youth Handbell Choir |
|
CHS is in process of forming a youth handbell choir and would like to extend a warm invitation to Sunday School students to participate. The handbell choir will perform during many of the Sunday morning Family Services, as well as at some of the special services such as Christmas, Easter, and Ascension Day. Prerequisites for participation: Students must have some music-reading ability (even if rudimentary). If the student already studies an instrument or voice, or participates in a school musical ensemble, this should likely qualify him or her. Excellent attendance is a must! A handbell choir with missing participants is like a piano with broken keys - all the notes must be there for it to function. Rehearsals will be on selected Sundays immediately following the Service (during coffee hour). The rehearsals will last between 20 and 30 minutes. Participants will also be asked to arrive 20 minutes early on the Sundays they are performing for a warm-up rehearsal. |
