Want to get involved in Outreach at CHS?
Here's what we're doing right now:
Haiti Crisis Fundraising
Almost a
year
after
the
devastating
earthquake
which
claimed
nearly
250,000
lives,
the
people
of Haiti are still in desperate need of
help:
especially
with the
massive
cholera
outbreak
of the
last two
months.
The
CDC
The
Episcopal Relief and Development Fund
is a secure way to know that your donations
are being spent wisely and effectively.
ERD partners are providing ongoing
earthquake relief, medical supplies for
thousands of cholera victims and
education about hygiene and sanitation to
battle the epidemic.
You can also donate to
The Society of St. Margaret,
at whose Boston
facility our Vestry has sometimes held
retreats in the past, and which has
ministered in
Haiti
for many years. The Society of St.
Margaret's facilities in Haiti were
devastated in the earthquake; although their
personnel all survived unharmed and have
been caring for their fellow survivors since
the first moments after the quake.
Help for Hospice
CHS members recently filled several small baskets for Hospice patients at the
Parmenter Health Center. Canned goods and non-perishable food items can continue to be left in the church narthex for ongoing donation to the Parmenter Food Pantry for needy local residents.
Clothing Collection
for Cancer Families
CHS is also collecting dresses and purses for all occasions - wedding dresses, prom dresses, casual, etc. Christine Ribiero (with some help from her mom, Sue) will be collecting these items for a fundraiser sale, where all proceeds go to families dealing with cancer. Email Sue for more information.
Food Pantry Collection
CHS is continuing to collect nonperishable items for the local Food Pantry. Please bring canned or boxed items (check those expiration dates!) and M.C. Garfield will coordinate delivery to the Food Pantry.
Care Wear is a nationwide group
of volunteers who knit, crochet,
and/or sew, providing handmade
baby items to hospitals. All
Care Wear items are given free
to infants, children and their
parents. The Care Wear
Volunteers of the Holy Spirit
consists of CHS members and
others and has been active for
over a decade. Last year they
provided over 800 hand-made
items to local hospitals.
